Top 10 books you didn’t know were my favourites

I don’t have any favourites. Just putting it out there. Having said that, there are still books that have a special place in my heart, however, I won’t go as far to call them my all time favourites. It’s hard to explain, okay.

But since the topic clearly implied “favourites”, favourites it is!

Since I don’t have any favourite book*, I’ve decided to list out the books I’m most likely to reread. I don’t want to bore y’all so let’s get into it.

Top 5 Tuesdays is hosted by Shanah @Bionic Bookworm : )

*yes, charlotte, we get it, you don’t have any favourites, can we talk about something else

SIX OF CROWS

I love this book with all my heart and devoured it. Even though I had some problems with the writing style, I love the characters. Especially Nina. She can slap me and I’ll say thank you.

And Kaz stab-you- in-the-eye Brekkar is my secret spirit animal. And Jesper and Inej and Wylan!! I love them all.

I should probably read the second part though.

*that’s pretty gay, charlotte

 AN EMBER IN THE ASHES

Not gonna lie, it took me a while to get into this book and I even dnf’ed it once. But once I got into it, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

I love the characters and I love the plot. Again, I have only read the first part so who know what I’ll say about this once I complete the quartet, but we don’t think about that.

Anyways, read it if you love books that give you anxiety because AEITA was one hell of an anxious ride.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS

This books is about asians and I’m asian except for the fact that I’m broke :'(.

This book for some reason reminds me of home. I love reading books about family dramas (blame the soap operas I used to watch with my mom) and this one has just the right amount of drama.

Also hello representation.

In short, I love this book and if you haven’t read it, you should most definitely read it!

NANCY DREW

First of all, Carolyn Keene is not real. My whole childhood was a lie. I trust nobody.

Second of all, I don’t talk about this book enough (probably because I haven’t read them in a while) but boy oh boy do I love Nancy Drew with all my heart.

I loved reading them when I was a child and after reading I would also enact some of the scenes from the book. Oh boy, those were the times.

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS

I remember reading PJO and falling in love with it, even though I read the second book first (it’s my mom’s fault).

It was my first time reading about Greek mythology and I….LOVED IT!! I love Rick Riordian’s writing style. I love the platonic relationships in this book. I just love it, okay.

Also it has Luke in it : ((( I love him so much.

THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END

This book broke me. It’s the only book ever to make me cry. I knew what I was getting myself into, but…I…still…cried.

It’s about two boys who meet on their last day and decide that they want to live their last day to the fullest. There’s a lot of angst and frustration in this book. I mean obviously, how does one remain calm if they know they’re going to die the very next day?

It’s a bittersweet story (mostly bitter). The ending left me mad not gonna lie. I loved my bois and I loved their friends and family. I’ll never forgive Adam Silvera.

HARRY POTTER

Have you guys read Harry Potter? It’s pretty underrated. You should read it. The author’s the best! Also the RePreSEntAtIOn in this book!!1!!

uhhhhhh…..yeah.

Anyways, as much as I hate JKR, I still like the books. Although I feel like my love for these books is fading (because I’m being exposed to other good books) but HP still has a special place in my heart because it got me into reading*.

*wow, so original

I’m cheating, I know. But in my defence, I don’t remember any other book that’s worthy enough to be called my favourite. Also choosing favourites is hard. I can’t even fathom how some people can call a book their favourite and stick to it. My favourites change everyday (I have some issue, I know)

care to share?

What are some of your all time favourites? How do you decide that a book is your favourite? I seriously want to know. Are any of these books your favourites? Do you even have favourites? (as you can see, I am obsessed with this topic)

AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir [ft. me accepting that I’ve fallen for keenan : )]

Today is a special day because I rose out of the ashes of my reading slump and read a book that I actually liked. However I’m pretty sure this won’t last for long so I’ll try to read as many books as I can (we all know how this is going to end).

Anywho I read An Ember In The Ashes a while back (by Sabaa Tahir btw) and I liked it. This is something new to me, liking a book, and I don’t know how to deal with it. Also I fell for Keenan and I don’t like it. It’s been a long time since I ever “liked” a character and this is an unwelcomed feeling.

Anyways enough about that. If I had to summarise AEITA in 3 words, it’d be – nice, verynice and iambadwithwordsimsorry : )
